It's Staff Spotlight day. This week we Spotlight Mrs. DeMotte. I might be a bit biased when writing this one. :-) A new face to Riverside Local schools and the education field, Mrs. DeMotte has a smile for everyone and a listening ear for staff and students. Her incredible patience an asset to Riverside (and me). We are blessed to have Mrs. DeMotte in our Pirate family. Thanks for all you do Mrs. DeMotte.
Bio-
What is your job title and description of what you do? I am a paraprofessional and am a one to one aide to a 7th grader. I go with him to each of his classes and guide him with keeping focused and on task. I also do my best to assist teachers and other students if needed, between times of helping my student.
How long with Riverside? I've been with Riverside since 8/8/2023. I am brand new to education as of the start of this school year.
Family? My wonderful husband is our hard working, very knowledgeable technology director, John DeMotte. I have two bonus daughters, Regan and her husband Charles, also Rhea and granddaughter Emilia.
Hobbies? I enjoy gardening, kayaking, and spending time in nature. I've recently gotten into golf and John and I will be in a couples league this spring. I love finding a tiny house to rent with my husband on a long weekend away and exploring new places together.
Favorites (food, holiday, etc)? I enjoy pitch-ins and family get-togethers because of getting the opportunity to try a variety of dishes that others make. I enjoy Thanksgiving with family because we always have an incredible meal. It's great to catch up with everyone, relax and maybe play some sort of game.
Best Co-workers why? I enjoy everyone that I work with. I haven't gotten a chance to get to know everyone on staff yet but all have been friendly and welcoming.
What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate? We are a family and it's good to be a Pirate. I've never worked for and with leadership and a team that is as incredible as this group is. Everyone strives to do the very best for our kids. It's why we are here. Our community is supportive and it feels like home. I am so incredibly beyond blessed.

A HUGE thank you to Riverside staff, students, and community for supporting a successful campaign to help raise money for the Indian Lake tornado funds. In just 3 days, Riverside was able to raise over $1200.00!
Caleb Davis was a top donator, and he threw a pie at elementary principal Mr. Hodge (Mr. Hodge's father works at the school and snuck one in also). Hadley and Kade Hodge were top donators and got to throw pies at their father, Coach Red. Byron Carman was also a top donator and threw his pie at Mr. Burchett (we let Mr. Burchett's little brother sneak in a pie also). Another top donator was Cruz Parker, he threw his pie at Mr. Switzer while the Jr. High kids shouted, "Welcome back!" Ellie Swiebel was another top donator and was very happy to throw her pie at Principal Mr. Meyer (Mr. Hodge and Mrs. Kauffman ran up to surprise him with pies also). And finally, Eli Kindle got to throw his pie at Mrs. Fleming. The Riverside staff are great sports, and the kids had fun raising money for a great cause. Thanks again for all those who contributed!

It's Staff Spotlight day. This week our spotlight is Ms. Purtee. Ms. Purtee is a great addition to our staff. She works with our smallest pirates. She does this with unlimited patience and a giant smile and a great attitude. She has a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. We are truely blessed that she is part of our pirate family.
Bio:
My name is Becky Purtee and I am the Teacher’s Assistant in the Preschool classroom. I have the best job in the world because I get to help our littlest Pirates learn and grow. Preschool is such a fun age to teach. I enjoy coming to work every day because in Preschool, it is always an adventure. I started out teaching Riverside students through the Head Start program and then transitioned to the Riverside Preschool when it first opened to the community. So I have been teaching Pirates for 14 years. I help with the 9th Period program and Summer school as well.
I also carry the title of Busy Sports Mom. I live in De Graff with my children Landon and Chloe. Landon is a Junior and Chloe is in 8th grade here at Riverside. I am grateful to work in the same building where my children attend school. They are both 3-sport athletes and we are always on the go. I am truly their biggest fan and loudest. When I am not at a sporting event; I enjoy reading a good book, being outdoors, random road trips, and spending time with my family and friends. My favorite meal is cooked by my Mom, which is salmon patties and fried potatoes. My favorite holiday would be Thanksgiving because it is a time to gather with family and remember how blessed I really am in life. My favorite vacation spot would be the beach.
All my co-workers at Riverside are the best. We are a close knit group that makes coming to work enjoyable. I have worked with Molli Bell for many years and we take pride in being the foundation of learning at Riverside. The Riverside community is amazing. I am so glad to work and raise my children in this community. #PiratePride

Today Miss Leah and Miss Azalea turned in their Spring Break choice boards to collect their money. It pays to work hard! ❤️💰💙

Today, my kinders worked on the Math Talk "10 Plus Some More." 1st they had to write the # of slices they saw. Next we wrote the addition sentence then rewrote the equation. Last, I challenged them to write the subtraction sentence for the pic. Maggie is explaining her answer.
