On Friday, first graders enjoyed learning about South America and the warmth of the sun. We heard stories, worked as teams to play Kahoot (which was our 1st time doing this and it was a blast!), did some writing activities, and made s’mores using solar ovens! Friday was a TREAT!

Mrs. Easton was reading us facts about the sun.
Here students are checking on the s’mores. They weren’t quite finished baking in the sun.
Here we are playing Kahoot. Teams consisted of a student from each class.
Here is an example of our yummy s’more!!

Yesterday, during our Math Talk, Shelby, Sophia, and Avery demonstrated how when people are shown the same math problem or pic, initially they all are “seeing” it differently! Some may focus first on the sum of the button holes while others start to find ways to add. Great talk!

Zaiden counted the holes then wrote the number down
The ladies all saw this picture differently
Lillian first noticed there were two buttons
Sebastian instantly wrote an addition sentence when seeing this picture
